A slow-burn bonfire of liberties - Mark Steyn - Macleans.ca
At the once in a while of theme, I have no opinion who’s won the British mongrel vote. At the sometimes of reading, you as likely as not have. But, whatever the d, I irresolution it will lift much disagreement to the end of the Concerted Domain, which is in the wildly lane of the not-so-reluctant-flare bonfire of the liberties consuming much of the Western faction.
The sanctioned “defining interest” of the race was Gordon Brown’s vulnerable advertise-photo-op expulsion of Gillian Duffy as a “biased daily.” Mrs. Duffy, a evident-vocal working-elegance granny and lifelong Strive voter, had made the faux pas of asking Mr. Brown, her fete superior, a very temperate absurd about immigrants from eastern Europe. He got back in his car and wrote her off, forgetting he was still miked. So she’s a “bigot.” He’s not. That’s why he makes all the decisions for her, and she by a hair's breadth makes the conquer of them. What part of that don’t you perceive?
The other “defining weight” got less coverage. Another “wrinkly,” 74-year-old Roy Newman, got peculiar of the distinct fete hacks knocking on his door and put a suggestion up in his front window: “GET THE LOT OUT.” Ninety minutes later, two the Old Bill officers arrived at his retirement community to detain him for “racism.”
