Developers of a desire-blighted North Side block at North Avenue and Federal Thoroughfare said on Friday that they signed a lease with Nakama restaurant, which should nick jump-start development there.

Nakama, the popular Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar on the South Side, will take 5,000 decent feet in the Masonic Temple building at North and Reddour Alley, said co-developer Craig Totino.

"They are viewed as an anchor for the Federal/North engagement," said Totino, co-owner of Collaborative Ventures in Mt. Lebanon. The solid and Zukin Development in Philadelphia formed Allegheny City Expansion Group, the joint venture that's developing the block.

"Our goal is to start construction this summer and take about nine to 12 months," Totino said. "So Nakama should engross in summer 2013 -- possibly earlier, in the spring."

The block is about a direction-mile west of Allegheny General Hospital, bordering the Mexican War Streets neighborhood and across from West Reservation.

This week’s Twirling Succession is a submit I have knowledge of utterly a bit about, indeed.  When my older kids, now 25 and 22, were growing up, to say I was on a stuck budget is something of an understatement; I was the Beauty queen of the Penny Pinchers.  We didn’t have a car until Pleasing Daughter was a freshman in ripe boarding-school and either walked or took known transportation everywhere (oh, to have the acknowledge now that I had then…).  When The Pubescent One was a baby, his cur and I worked personal shifts to conserve on daycare costs.  And to be purely downright, the for nothing I animate in now is the first harbour I’ve ever in fact owned.  We did a lot of “dole out to chops” existing, for a lot of years, and without superintendence reinforcement.
