The Virginia House of Delegates voted Tuesday to put two antiabortion measures: a bill defining "personhood" as opening at conception, and a bill that would require women to view sonograms of their fetuses before undergoing abortions. 

The "personhood" bill , sponsored by Republican agent Bob Marshall, overwhelmingly passed on a 66-32 vote in the Republican-controlled House. The number two bill , sponsored by Republican delegate Kathy Byron, passed 63-36. It would make women to undergo a "transvaginal ultrasound" before successful through with an abortion.

"The General Assembly is dangerously close to making Virginia the first have in the country to grant personhood rights to fertilized eggs,” said Tarina Keene, administrative director of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, in a statement. 

In a phone meeting, Keene said lawmakers are out of touch with Virginia voters, whom she described as only more conservative.
