The 13th annual North Woods Chili Cook-Off had local competitors bring their best recipes to the plain Saturday.

The event at the Dulles State Office Building featured 34 chilis from organizations and locals across the compass. The Children’s Home of Jefferson County made a vegetarian chili and believed its prescription could stand up to any meat-based one.

“We’ve got the trophies on the wall to support it,” said Joseph A. Martin, technical adviser.

The home has competed every year at the at the time, which raises money for the Volunteer Transportation Center.

“This has got to be one of the best crowds in a few years,” he said. “It’s honest a nice thing and it’s nice to see the community support.”

The North Territory Children’s Clinic took home $50 and second apartment in the vegetarian category.
