Exhibition at Charnwood Museum is food for thought

AN EXHIBITION exploring food through the centuries – from Roman days to the distribute day – has opened at Charnwood Museum in Loughborough.
Eating in, which is funded by Leicestershire County Caucus, has food items on display from 1849, exploring cooking in the home, thriving eating, and growing your own.
Fiona Ure, curator of the home and family existence collection at the council, says the exhibition has taken three years to make and will eventually travel across the county.
She told the Echo: “It is a sanctification – how we cook and what we cook has changed over centuries – it has also been influenced by the goggle-box. We have some really nice gadgets – such as a Kenwood Chef food mixer, which was the equivalent of a BMW back in the 1960s.”
The demonstration also looks at food and drink produced locally, such as, Hathern Brewery.
