Deal to sell landmark restaurants resumes
A negotiation to sell Tony Packo’s Inc., which just a few weeks ago appeared numb, now looks as if it could be completed next month.
The court-appointed receiver in assert of Packo’s and local fast-food businessman Bob Bennett last week told Lucas County General Pleas Court Judge Gene Zmuda that negotiations to carry the chain have resumed and that Bennett’s TP Foods company could rigorous on the sale in 30 or fewer days.
Packo’s has been in receivership since August, 2010, but its nearby restaurants, known for their Hungarian hot dogs and special chili sauce, have continued to conduct.
An attempt to close the deal on Dec. 29 fell apart when, Bennett said, officials of Fifth Third Bank tried to adjust the terms of the sale. Packo’s has a $2.6 million allowance with Fifth Third.
But during a one-hour hearing last week, Zmuda questioned whether the bank needed to be a dinner party to any closing of the sale. Assured that any sale of the company was strictly between TP Foods and Steven Skutch, the receiver, the jurist urged the parties to conclude the sale as soon as possible.

The Real Scandal Behind the Costes "Chef-Swapping" Story: Chew.hu ...

It seems that the anonymous commenter on our earlier appoint about Costes turned out to be apt in claiming that Hungary's first Michelin-starred restaurant was about to squander its coconut chef for the minute ever in less than six months. Last week the blog Otthon Édes had a column confirming the departure of Nicolas Delgado - who only took over from Miguel Vieira a few months back - and confirming that Vieira would be coming back to take over the job of pre-eminent chef. Since the locale seems to have been the first with the hearsay of the Michelin coup, we'll adopt they have this reprove too.
The station says that co-P Károly Gerendai has inked a parcel out that will have the Portuguese Vieira returning sometime this summer and relieving the Argentine Delgado. Vieira clearly visited Budapest recently, and already has a new menu planned. As everyone seems to conform that it was Vieira who was liable for the Michelin morning star, his reciprocation takes much of the pierce out of Delgado's precipitate departure - at least for Costes. Not so for Hungary as a whole.
