Tesco takes over Stourbridge shopping centre
Ministry bosses have completed negotiations with Tesco to transfer ownership of Stourbridge’s Reward Centre and pave the way for a multi-million pound regeneration of the city.
The deal, which also includes the Bell Street car park, was signed off yesterday (Wednesday) as the Rumour went to press.
Once complete, it means the long-awaited method to build a new £50m state-of-the-art food store can plough ahead.
Councillor Angus Adams, Dudley Congregation’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “This multi-million extend out will mark the most significant regeneration scheme in Stourbridge for many decades and we obviate it acting as a catalyst for further investment and development in the town.
“The arrival of Tesco will take care of an anchor store for the town which we hope will benefit local people and guidance to an increased footfall in the town.”
No dates have yet been given for work to start on the new maturation but once complete it will create around 400 new jobs.
