Prestige chef Jamie Oliver has announced he will be coming to Logan in March.

The announcement was made in a pre-recorded bulletin filmed from his kitchen in London and shown at the official opening of his Ministry of Food stock at Logan Central on Friday.

Mr Oliver said the mobile cooking sundries, which is an Australian first, was aimed at eradicating obesity and diet related condition in Queensland.

"In some parts of Australia, obesity levels are some of the worst statistics in the unbelievable, which I was surprised about, but we want to fix it," he said.

His mobile cooking transaction, which is currently parked outside the Logan Art Gallery on Wembley Rd, Logan Significant, will hold weekly cooking classes to teach 240 residents how to cook trim and nutritious meals at home.

Mr Oliver's long-time partner and fellow celebrity chef Ben O'Donoghue was at the official commencement and said he had never seen anything so amazing.

"When I saw the truck, I was like 'oh my god it's peculiar'," he said.
