I am a former chef and worked in Jamaica in the 1980s, and I agree to live in Toronto Canada and we have a large Jamaican community here and many wonderful locations for a banquet.

Local members of the food-exporting industry are yet to take up any of the J$100-million credit fund offered by the Government of Jamaica through the EXIM Bank to upgrade and which was put in post in September 2011.

Of the now estimated 90 companies affected by new regulations under the Opinion States Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA), only one has made an application, with no funds so far disbursed.

"The bank has received an inaugural request from one client for J$15.5 million. No disbursements have yet been made as we are still in the assessment condition," Ann Marie Walter-Allen, EXIM's chief officer for marketing, said on Wednesday.

"The first disbursement is projected to be made in a yoke weeks."

Local food exporters have been contemplating operational changes under the stricter trading r imposed by the US, which imposed new standards on food entering the US market effective January 1, 2012.

New Kassava Truck Brings Real Jamaican Food to the Streets (Where ...

I found it indispensable to hide my frustration when I tried the chicken Reggae Pluck ratings for the first time, notwithstanding last month. I was hoping for some legitimate, down to welcome home with Jamaican food from a trade (remember: oxtail, peas dither, curry goat, chicken in the clamp and the bone).
