In Defense of Food or The Omnivore's Dilemma ?

Have to read either book for my class. I bought two because they both seem to have many good reviews. Does anyone have skimmed and may propose that these would be best for the class discussion?
I did not understand the defense of food, but Omnivore's Dilemma was wonderful!

Suggestions for healthy, tasty eating in 2012
It’s January, which means that many of us are making new commitments to our healthiness and culinary palette. Whether you are hoping to eat healthier, or just hoping to weaken up the midwinter stir-fry doldrums, I’ve got a couple tips for you.
Most of my food philosophy comes from Michael Pollan, father of “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” “In Defense of Food,” and its unoriginal, “Food Rules.” Pollan’s advice is to “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants,” which I remember is just about right. I don’t support dieting, but here are a few things that I’ve found in Pollan’s profession and elsewhere that help me make healthy choices about food. (Full disclaimer: I can and do eat entire pints of Cherry Garcia in one sitting with diversion. I’m not a food saint.)
1. Eat The Rainbow! And those colors can’t be produced within two miles of the New Jersey turnpike. Carbohydrates are conventionally white, tan or brown (ditto meat), so minimize the amount of space those take up on your slab, in favor of colorful veggies and fruits. If you’re an omnivore, try designating one or two vegetarian or vegan days out of the week and change up the protein with beans, lentils, quinoa, tofu or just lots and lots of peanut butter.
