Why do some food writers insist you remove the green germ from a garlic clove?

A pair of food writers that I'm fans often say "eliminate germs green garlic and mince etc.. Is the rural bit bitter or something? Others do speak.
Not only is it cut, but the simple fact that there are ways that your garlic is less convincing.

Zagat writer talks PEI food
Zagat was looking for lesser known food destinations to present, when it listed P.E.I. in the top eight places in the world to go according to one of its blog writers.
The listing has created totally a bit of buzz over the last couple of days.
Zagat blog writer Lauren Bloomberg said everyone knows Tuscany and Montreal as merit places to eat. She was looking for more off-the-beaten-track locations.
"Everyone wants to find the newest, hottest sentiment and be the first person there, and I think this list is a great example of that. It's places that aren't perfectly out there," Bloomberg said.
"They're a little quirky, a little unique. That you can go and have a notable time, a great experience and then come home and say 'Guess where I went? It was fabulous and I did this, this and this,'" said Bloomberg."
