How do I get food out of my strainer?

I have a really fine strainer knitted that we use to strain orzo and rinse canned beans and vegetables. He gets bits of food stuck in and we did everything we have in mind to get clean and eat it, but nothing works! Suggestions?

I have one of these miniatures those too. it is from when my mother was very little even.
I will be sure to rinse with warm water the next, I'm finished using it even if I'm not going to wash it at the time.

Makes about ½ cup

¾ teaspoon cumin seeds, lightly toasted and cooled

3 garlic cloves
