Blue Nile adds Ethiopian food to Jamaica Plain
For years, the Ethiopian restaurant Fasika resided on South Huntington Avenue in Purpose Hill. Now the former owners have opened the Blue Nile in Jamaica Heath’s Hyde Square, taking over the tiny storefront that was previously the coffee inform on Velouria. With the brand new Nigerian restaurant Suya Joint crack in Roslindale, African cuisines are now relatively (very relatively) well represented in this part of the big apple.
It’s a pleasure to find Ethiopian food here, alongside Chinese, Irish, Cuban, Scottish, and Dominican. The cuisine centers on epicurean stews, some spicy, many vegetarian, all deeply satisfying. They are served on the lightly spoil, springy flatbread called injera, no utensils required. Despondent Nile’s menu offers appetizers such as lentil salad and the savory turnovers sambosas. Stews, or “wet,’’ here incorporate gomen wet, tender collard greens; misir wet, spiced red lentils; and comestibles versions made with chicken, lamb, and beef. Vegetarian and meat combinations are at one's fingertips.

Ethiopian food is very enchanting, but with the blockage of some restaurants, people do not master how to present today that new PPL. Restaurants who sign how the interface with their customers who are new to Ethiopian cuisine will benefit themselves and their community. Incidentally, the Ethiopian food is not entirely represented by the restaurants. I can comfortably chew thousands of kinds of Ethiopian food ... . Tibs / kitfo are only 2 of a mile.
At the DeSoto Lounge in West Asheville: Ethiopian food, great ...
The first — and most latest — surprising roomer: Ethiopian food. Desoto Idle is now serving Ethiopian food on Tuesdays.
It's never made intuit to me that we don't have an Ethiopian restaurant in Asheville. This enchanting African cuisine is such a regular fit for this hamlet: It's alien; we are into that. It's vegetarian-comradely, and we certainly have a lot of rabbits in this burgh. We are documented big fans of fermentation (See: state beer).
In preference to of using utensils, you use a spongy, fermented bread to pick up Ethiopian dishes. How grand an notion is that? You eat food with food!
The Ethiopian food besides is assuredly the tastiest of all the new treats at the Desoto. But it's well-deserved one nosh: It's also hosting busy music now and is attracting some serious rising stars.
One model: Sub Pop's Dum Dum Girls, who played there in Parade. Their first album sounds like what would befall if a 1960s miss body sure to ditch the beehives for the leather jackets of vandal rockers. Let's straight say it's so all right that next notwithstanding they bump into b pay up to behaviour in Asheville, they will have to be at a much larger venue.
