Egyptian Food?
by Athena225 | Posted in Ethnic Cuisine
Hello everyone
I am currently five months in Egypt and want to find myself with their food. Anyone know the names of popular dishes there? Is there a store in Riverside, Ca I could find them? Are there any good recipes to try?
Kushari is one of the most common and most popular dishes in Egypt.

Egypt Tourism Receipts Slip Nearly 30 Pct in 2011
Revenues from Egypt's animating tourism sector plunged almost 30 percent last year, the regime said Thursday, as unrest following the ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak shrunken economic growth and forced the country to turn to the International Nummular Fund for help.
The decline in revenues caused by near-day after day protests and strikes underscores the challenges as Egypt's military rulers and the interim administration plot a course toward handing over power to an elected civilian delivery.
Tourism Minister Mounir Abdel-Nour was quoted by the claim-run Al-Ahram newspaper on Thursday saying that the number of tourists who came to Egypt in 2011 dropped by over 33 percent — to 9.8 million — compared to 14.7 million in 2010. Revenues for the year clocked in at $8.8 billion compared to $12.5 billion in 2010.
Commercial woes have led the country to turn again to the IMF after rejecting an earlier loan proffer. Earlier in the week, an IMF delegation visited the country, and a formal plead for for a $3.2 billion support package was issued.

She also mentioned that you will not be qualified to find koshary anywhere, but you can get more shawarma at Byblos Portside. She suggested a Lebanese restaurant has something similar ... She said that Egyptians are not suitable to have their own kitchen as such it is taken in an edition of the surrounding countries, it is perhaps why there is not a restaurant for it. Thank you for the pile of innuendo - Byblos sounds wonderful. In my google searches I know there were restaurants Egyptian in Sydney and Melbourne, so its fitting that adventure we do not have enough great people of Egypt in Brisbane? Shrugs. We should have one, or at least one quarter Koshary. I was surprised that the chickpea and pasta soup could be authentic.
